Why convert to EASA?

A European licence opens up Europe’s biggest airlines — Ryanair, Wizz, easyJet, Lufthansa, Air France — many of which actively recruit DGCA CPL holders with 200–1,500 hours through cadet conversions and direct-entry programmes.

🌍

Bigger job market

EU air traffic grew 14% in 2025. 27,000+ pilot openings forecast across EASA carriers by 2030, with active sponsorship for non-EU holders.

💶

Higher salaries

First Officer base: €60k–€90k/yr (₹54L–₹81L). Captain: €150k–€220k/yr (₹1.3Cr–₹2Cr). Hourly pay + per-diems on top.

🛫

Wider type-rating options

Direct entry to A320, A330, A350, B737 MAX, B787, ATR-72 fleets with type-rating contracts (€18k–€32k repayable from salary).

Indian-pilot career path after EASA conversion

Year 1: EASA CPL/IR + ATPL theory → cadet base in Ireland, Hungary, or Spain · Year 2: Type rating + line training on A320 / B737 · Year 3+: Permanent First Officer slot with EU airline — many offer fast-track Captain in 5–7 years. Your DGCA licence stays valid throughout — return to India any time without re-conversion.

Indian pilots, now flying across Europe

★★★★★

“Started with a DGCA CPL and 220 hours. Aviator Cloud built me a clear roadmap, prepped me for theory in 4 months, and helped me book the Dubai exam. Cleared 12 of 14 in the first sitting. Now flying as F/O on A320 with a European low-cost carrier.”

“The mentorship made the difference. WhatsApp support was honestly faster than my own DGCA-FTO. Sat exams in Istanbul, got my skill test slot 8 weeks later. Highly recommend the Theory + Mentorship tier.”

★★★★★

“DGCA ATPL with 4,800 hours. Wanted to fly in Europe before my DGCA medical age-restriction kicked in. Aviator Cloud’s full conversion package got me from enquiry to EU airline contract in 9 months.”

Frequently asked questions

I have a DGCA CPL with 250 hours — am I eligible for EASA CPL conversion?
Yes. EASA recognises ICAO CPL holders for theory and skill-test conversion. You’ll need to re-sit the 14 EASA theory exams, pass an English language proficiency check (Level 4 ICAO), provide a Class 1 medical (EASA-issued or your DGCA Class 1 with a top-up exam), and pass a skill test on simulator + aircraft. Total realistic timeline: 6–9 months.
How many of the 14 EASA theory exams must I retake?
All 14 are mandatory for the ATPL theory credit. However, ATPL holders with valid IR (Instrument Rating) may receive partial credits in 2–4 subjects (Air Law, Navigation, Communications) at the examining authority’s discretion. We’ll request your DGCA exam history and submit a credit application during the eligibility review.
Can I take the EASA exams in Dubai or do I need to travel to Europe?
Yes — EASA recognises 20+ exam centres globally, including Dubai (monthly), Istanbul (bi-monthly), Bangkok (monthly) and Amman (quarterly). For Indian pilots, Dubai is the closest and most frequent option. You’ll only need to travel to Europe for the skill test (typically Hungary or Romania, 7–10 days on the ground).
What’s the total realistic cost and timeline for a full DGCA→EASA ATPL conversion?
Realistic all-in cost for a complete CPL→EASA CPL conversion: ₹6 lakh – ₹9 lakh including theory, exam fees, simulator skill test, medical and travel. ATPL conversion: ₹9 lakh – ₹14 lakh. Timeline: 6–12 months depending on study pace. Our “Full Conversion” tier covers ₹5 lakh and the EASA-side costs are paid directly to the ATO and EASA authority — we publish the line items in your roadmap.
Does an EASA licence let me fly for IndiGo / Air India after I return to India?
An EASA licence on its own does not authorise commercial operations in India — Indian airlines (IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, Vistara) require a current DGCA licence with the relevant type rating. The good news: your DGCA licence remains valid alongside your EASA one (no need to surrender), and time you log on EU type ratings is recognised by DGCA for renewal. Many pilots fly EU for 3–5 years then return with significantly higher hours and command experience for DGCA airline interviews.
I don’t have a Class 1 medical that’s EASA-compliant. What do I do?
You’ll need an EASA Class 1 medical issued by a EU-authorised AME (Aero-Medical Examiner). Closest options for Indian pilots are Dubai, Doha, or any EU country during your skill test trip. We provide an up-to-date list of AMEs and book the slot for you as part of Tiers 2 and 3.
